January 16, 2008

Each year, the Michigan Baseball Foundation accepts grant applications beginning in mid-November.  The applications are reviewed by the MBF grant committee, which awards grants of various amounts to deserving non-profit organizations.  The deadline for 2008 applications has past.  All grants received by the foundation by January 15, 2008 will be reviewed by the committee.  Grant recipients will be notified by March 15, 2008.  The application process for 2009 grants will continue again in November 2008.  Please check back to this site at that time for instructions on downloading the grant application.

The Michigan Baseball Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation, which was formed in 2006 to enhance the efforts of regional organizations that serve young people and to enhance the efforts of regional economic development through creative partnerships and grants.  The Michigan Baseball Foundation owns and operates Dow Diamond, home of the Great Lakes Loons, a Class A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The decision to fund an organization’s program or project will be determined by whether one or more of the following guidelines are met. These guidelines reflect the purposes for which the Michigan Baseball Foundation has been organized:
  • The organization contributes to regional economic development by expanding employment opportunities and promoting the general welfare of the area
  • The organization is based in the Mid-Michigan area and serves young people
  • The funded project/program promotes amateur sports
The Michigan Baseball Foundation will consider funding Mid-Michigan non-profit organizations that use the grant money to fund projects and/or programs; the grants are not intended to fund day-to-day operations. Primary consideration will be given to organizations in the Midland, Bay, Saginaw, Clare, Gladwin, Gratiot, Isabella, Genesee, Tuscola, Huron, Arenac, and Iosco counties.  Strong consideration will also be given to organizations that have:
  • A practical financial development plan either in place or underway
  • A strong infrastructure and solid operational plan or strategy in place or under development
  • Dynamic leadership both at the management level and on the governing board(s)
  • Strategic alliances with other public and private agencies, businesses and individuals
  • A system for evaluating and developing their programs, management and staff to keep the organization viable and effective
Thanks again for your interest in the Michigan Baseball Foundation.

Sincerely,
Stavropoulos Signature.jpg
